Potter Valley Bible Church DEDICATED~!

On Sunday, October 17th, 2010, at 7pm the new Potter Valley Bible Church building was dedicated. It was a wonderful day filled with laughter, stories and memories shared and made. The Album tells the entire story but the last 60 photo's in the album describes the dedication day in pictures. Take a visit to the album (at the right of this post) and review the last two years but add about 20 years to the front of it.

It was 20 years ago that the little church in Potter Valley had become too small and was too decayed and outdated for remodel. A new building was badly needed. As Rich Brazil stated in his summary at the dedication, "In 1997 the women of the church saw a need for a new building and began to pray for it." But before that could happen, a new pastor would come in 2002 and then, finally, in 2005 an application was made to Hard Hats for Christ for volunteers to be sent to this project. In October of 2007, Joe & Sherry Newton revisited the project that Jim Hodges, Founder of Hard Hats for Christ, had come to years before. Then a new couple with Hard Hats, Rolan & Lee McKay, came to lead the workers and a foundation was poured in the summer of 2008.

We arrived in late fall of 2008 and helped for six months until the Spring. We returned in the fall of 2009 and helped again until April 2010. All the while volunteers came and went as time allowed or as talents were needed, Rolan and Lee McKay stayed on site guiding the workers that were there. Sometimes it was just two... Rolan McKay and Jerry Pollock. Sometimes it was almost two dozen, a mixture of volunteers from Hard Hats and members of the Potter Valley Bible Church. (Don't forget the hundreds of meals that were prepared and served to them by the women of Potter Valley.) Hands on the job were not the only ones "on site". There were prayers being said and funds being sent from many others who only saw the progress through emails and pictures. They were just as much as part (if not more) of this as the others. May God bless each and every one that swung a hammer, prayed a prayer, sent a check and/or provided a hot dish for this project.
