October 2007 Update - Still on the Road
11/6/2007 Hi There~~ It's been awhile since I have tried to update our blog. Gave up for a few years since we did not have regular internet access. When we campground host as volunters for the National Forest Service in the summer months we have no TV, no cell phone signal and usually no AM/FM radio signal either. But we find we really enjoy camphosting so well that we don't mind the remote sites.
We volunteer for Hard Hats for Christ from October to May and that has been a rewarding and wonderful experience. Not without challenges at times but it's the challenges where we see and feel the Lord's presence. If you are interested in learning more about Hard Hats for Christ go to www.hardhatsforchrist.org We have been volunteering with them since October 2005 and it's been a blessing to us to try to be a blessing for others.
When we are at the NFS campground we have deer with their fawns in the campground in early June. We try to do several hikes a year even in the snow. Our present Hard Hats for Christ project is in the Portland area and we are getting ready to pour concrete. The more interesting thing we have to share with you is the cabinet door that was found in the burned section of the building three years ago when the fire destroyed the back section of this almost 100 year old church. It's amazing but it's really true. This image was burned into the kitchen cabinet door. This was how it looked after the fire destroyed that section of the building. It has been framed and hangs behind the pulpit still with the cabinet door pull in the lower right corner. It has inspired this small congregation to rebuild this very needed church building. You may wonder why if the fire happened three years ago...why are they just pour ing concrete now. Lack of funds.
If you wish to donate funds to this project just contact Hard Hats for Christ at 888-423-5022. If you wish to volunteer on any project across the USA, don't hesitate to give them a phone call. All are welcome.
Most important of all is to please pray for God's leading and protection for all the workers and volunteers on all the Hard Hats projects. God Bless You Always, Kathy and Lou
